The Caboose Train

All aboard for a nostalgic journey into the golden era of railroads.

MILW 992183 is a unique caboose that was used by the Milwaukee Road railroad company. It was built in the about 1956 and was used for several decades by the company before being retired in the 1980s. The caboose was then acquired Marquette Action Club and is now a part of a collection of historic railroad artifacts on display at Marquette Depot Museum.

The caboose has a spacious interior, which was used by the crew for sleeping, cooking, and other activities during long trips.

While the MILW 992183 caboose is no longer in active service, it remains an important part of railroad history and a symbol of the hard work and dedication of the men and women who helped build and maintain the railroads of North America. You can see and tour the caboose at the Depot Museum and Information Center in Marquette, Iowa.

The gift shop and information area of the Depot Museum is the result of a renovation of the authentic Blue River, WI Railroad Depot originally built in the 1900's. The Depot was purchased in 1994 by Marquette Action Club and moved to it’s current location in Marquette, Iowa. The outside looks like it did when is served the Milwaukee Road in Blue River, WI.
